Kevin Clarke, President

Kevin comes to the Board with over 15 years of management experience with a passion for Training and Development. For the past 10 years, Kevin has had the opportunity to work as a Senior Manager for CarMax in the roles of mentor, facilitator and trainer.  

He recently moved to the Richmond area to join the Talent Management group at CarMax as the Principal Leader. 

Kevin holds Masters’ degrees in  Business Administration and Human Resource Management.

Sandra Smith, President Elect

Sandra brings over twenty years of teaching, training, coaching, instructional design, technical writing, content development, and editing experience with her to our Board.  Sandra is a former chemist and science teacher.  Presently she is the CEO of Cognicata -- a professional development organization that focuses on e-learning. In this role, she partners with Fortune 500 organizations and textbook publishers to provide personal and professional development.

Sandra has a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.

Kelli Frey, Past President

Kelli Frey is an Associate Director of Learning and Development and EAB. She has a demonstrated history of providing excellence in coaching, instructional design and delivery, facilitation, eLearning development, and more. A passion to always learn, improve, and evolve both for those she works with and herself is evident. Her non-traditional background allows her to build out-of-the box ideas into powerful solutions for personal and professional development.

Alicia Arrington, VP of Operations

Alicia is a Career Consultant who joined Lee Hecht Harrison in 2016.  Her professional expertise is in operations management with line experience in human resources. She has led teams of up to 20 multi-disciplinary employees with accountability for seven figure client portfolios. She has extensive leadership experience in training, employee engagement, workforce development, P&L management, contract service management, and customer service.

 Alicia’s career was spent primarily in the hospitality industry working for a FortuneĀ® 500 provider of global food, facilities, and uniform services to education, healthcare, business, sports, leisure, and corrections clients

 Alicia’s blended professional background also consists of tenures within Human Resources and Recruitment. Her leadership experience in these arenas included performance management programs, talent sourcing, coaching and development, as well as onboarding. Her customer base was comprised of clients in the pharmaceutical, housing, financial services, and tobacco industries. Alicia also serves as a SHRM Certified Professional and Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

Katisha Kersey, VP of Marketing

Since 2007, Katisha has served as the Training Coordinator and Course Developer for a private property management company that owns and operates thousands of residential units around Richmond and several other states. In her current role, she creates and conducts both live and online training courses. As a former Spanish Teacher at Tidewater Academy, Katisha was recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce after her first year. Outside of the office, Katisha provides in-home tutoring to middle and high school students.

As a University of Virginia alumna and resident of Richmond for more than 30 years, Katisha is passionate about enjoying and giving back to the thriving local community. She is active in her church and volunteers with the Junior League of Richmond.  For the 2017-2018 League year, Katisha served as Chair for the committee that organizes the successful annual Touch a Truck fundraiser. Katisha is thrilled to continue her endeavors by supporting the Greater Richmond Chapter of the ATD.

Lauren Philip, VP of Membership

Lauren is a driven and dedicated certified HR Professional and is currently the Principal Consultant at LP Consulting, having worked with various clients in the Caribbean.  She has been instrumental in implementing HR strategies, managing employee relations, developing HR policies and processes and establishing positive working relationships with all stakeholders.

She graduated with honors from the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and holds dual degrees in Human Resource Management and Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Lauren is an advocate for continuous learning and is currently in the final semester of the MEd. Program in Adult Learning at VCU.

Kimberly Newman, Director of Program Execution

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Kimberly and I am your new Director of Event Execution.   I look forward to meeting and working with you all.   Just to tell you a little about myself, I've worked in the Events and Tourism Sales industry for over 20 years. Most recently, working as a Travel Director and sourcing manager in the event incentive market. I oversaw global conferences, trade shows, and events. I was responsible for overseeing all meeting and event services for multiple Fortune 50 companies and partnered with some of the nation’s top DMOs.  As I continue to increase the work I do working with the incentive companies, I officially opened my consultancy agency 4 years ago.  Assisting small businesses increase their visibility within the Hospitality and Tourism space.  Highlights of Kimberly’s career include work on three Presidential Inaugurations, the White House Correspondence dinner, the 2015/2016 Super Bowls, and inking a 3 yr sole source deal with a major sports association.

My spare time is spent sitting on industry committees and volunteering as a Hospitality Instructor assisting disenfranchised individuals obtain certifications in the industry to land employment. I also volunteer with other education based organizations that focus on providing assistance with navigation through the K-12 IEP process, and I sit on the MSAAC committee which works in tandem with LCPS. In all this, the final joy of my heart is time spent introducing my 10-year old son to the world of volunteerism and traveling the globe. His top highlights of travel were spending a month in the South of France, visiting our home in St. Martin, and driving on the racetrack at the Grand Pre in Monaco.

Tom Coltrain, Director of Technology

Tom works in HRIS and LMS implementation and administration at the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). He brings over 6 years experience working with a variety of clients in diverse industries consulting on human resources, training, strategy, software implementation, and project management.  

Tom teaches night classes in human resources management and organizational behavior & leadership.  He enjoys providing guidance to students through application of learning to real-world work experiences.

Tom received a B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Masters in Human Resources Management from the University of Richmond.

Consuelo Adkins-Tyler, Director of Member Experience

Consuelo has over 18 year of experience in the field of learning and development. Her sweet spot is bringing out the best in others so naturally, people development was an ideal career path for her. She is currently a Global Learning and Development Manager for Markel’s Talent Development Team.

Her work experience includes leader development, organizational development, instructional design, program design, facilitation, coaching, and diversity & inclusion.

Consuelo has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Virginia, Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, and is a Registered Corporate Coach™.

Candace Lyne, Director of Administration

Candace has over 19 years of teaching, training, and instructional design experience.  She worked in the public schools for 14 years as a teacher, trainer, and administrator and has been working in state government for over five years as a senior trainer and instructional designer.  She has a passion for helping others achieve the highest possible level of fulfillment and success in their career.

Candace earned her Education Specialist degree and her Master’s degree from the University of Virginia.  She is also a certified Associate Professional in Talent and Development (APTD).

Tom Zahler, Director of Event Planning

Tom has been involved in teaching, training, consulting and professional development for nearly forty years.  He began his career training in law enforcement and correctional settings, and has since worked for State and Federal agencies, as well as in the private sector in both the pharmaceutical and logistics industries.  Along the way he earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, worked as a mental health professional, and taught at the community college, undergraduate and graduate levels. 

Currently, he is the Director of Corporate Training and Development for Estes Express Lines.  This is his first experience as a Board Member of Richmond ATD.

Anna Wall, Director of Communications

Anna brings 4+ years of Human Resources experience to the board.  She currently works as an HR Project Analyst for a local non-profit in downtown Richmond.  Anna focuses her time on employee onboarding and engagement, internal policy management, and HRIS analysis.  She started her career at a Fortune 500 company working in recruiting and talent development.  

              Anna is passionate about giving back to the local Richmond Community and manages company events that allow employees to come together to unite and strengthen their community outside of their daily work.  Besides working with her company's giving program, Anna is also personally involved with the Massey Alliance and Richmond SPCA.  With a degree in Business Administration, Anna is developing her communication skills as well as professional network through the Richmond ATD Board.
