Designing Effective Diversity & Inclusion Programs

Effective workshops on diversity and inclusion don't just happen. They require intentional planning, facilitation, and evaluation. Explore the methodology of an award-winning organization that serves youth and adults across Virginia. Participants will learn best practices when navigating issues such as race and sexual orientation and have the opportunity to consider approaches that can help them design and deliver more effective programs.

By the completion of the workshop, participants will:

- Express an increased awareness of how attitudes, beliefs, behavior, and language can impact groups;

- Gain skills for designing and facilitating programs on diversity and inclusion; and

- Develop strategies for creating more inclusive workplace environments.

About the Speaker:

Jonathan C. Zur
is President & CEO of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC), an organization that works with schools, business, and communities to achieve success through inclusion.  Under Jonathan’s leadership, VCIC increased the number of programs delivered annually by over 700%, and the organization has been recognized locally and nationally for its effectiveness.  An experienced facilitator and consultant on issues of diversity and inclusion, Jonathan was a speaker at the inaugural White House Summit on Diversity and Inclusion in Government in November 2016.  Additionally, his program work with VCIC is noted in the book “No COLORS: 100 Ways to Stop Gangs from Taking Away Our Communities” as “the best…in the nation for sowing the seeds of non-violence, inclusiveness and understanding in a high school.”  Jonathan earned his B.A. from the University of Richmond and he received a Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.
