ADVANCED PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR TRAINERS

Tue, Feb 12th, 2013

8:30am - 4:30pm

Take your training and development skills and knowledge to the next level at this one-day
Advanced Project Management for Trainers course!

If you work in training and development, and already have a foundation in Project Management Basics (or attended our spring course on Project Management for Trainers), or a CAPM® or PMP® certification, then this course will give you the tools you need to leverage those skills at a more advanced level.

The Advanced PM course is designed to merge training expertise with globally recognized project management processes to achieve more synergistic, timely, and effective delivery of workforce engagement initiatives.  This course starts with a refresher on scheduling options and calculating critical path, and moves quickly to using Resource Leveling to efficiently balance scarce resources with multiple training projects.  Participants will learn how to calculate Earned Value as a means of tracking training project performance.   Additionally, the course explores multi-tasking and other ways to report risks on multiple training projects from a program point of view.  The goals of this class are obtained through lectures, group case studies and hands-on exercises.

Class Goals:

  • Review Critical Path analysis from the introductory course
  • Balance resource needs of multiple training projects by applying Resource Leveling
  • Calculate Earned Value for determining training project health
  • Create multiple training project status reporting for Earned Value, Resource Usage, and Risk Management
  • Understand what is required to control the project and correct issues that may affect the baselines
