    The Manager’s primary responsibility is to develop and deliver the nonprofit learning program of the Community Foundation in support of building capacity for regional nonprofits. This includes a focus on executive and management skills for current and emerging leaders, as well as board governance and topics of current interest, such as advocacy and equity. This is a full-time exempt position.


    • Align training strategy to meet overall organizational goals. Align with organizational culture and values.
    • Define and understand the Community Foundation customer and align learning strategy to ultimately serve the capacity building of the organization’s customers.
    • Partner and collaborate with stakeholders to build effective training programs, understand learning priorities, and consult on best-in-class, scalable, and modern training delivery solutions. Delivery can include small and large groups, and e-learning.
    • Build, facilitate, and deliver curriculum and learning experiences.
    • Design, implement, and lead management and leadership development initiatives.
    • Partner with community partners to deliver board/governance training.
    • Work with Community Foundation staff and community partners to develop and deliver content on topics of current interest to nonprofit leadership (ex: changes in law; advocacy-related education).
    • Create and deliver new initiatives for continued success and growth of nonprofit community.
    • Establish rapport and trust with clients, stakeholders, and partners and navigate through all levels of client and partner satisfaction; apply feedback to process, content, and tools for improvement.
    • Track and drive measures of success, such as ROI and support of defined high impact goals. Report the results of the learning program to organization and community leadership.
    • Act as the learning expert in the organization, staying current on trends within learning and training and sharing and implementing best practices, new trends in the industry, and key findings.
    • Lead the marketing and promotion of services and learning events.
    • Build program budgets and support organizational budget development and strategy.
    • Support the Community Engagement Team through alignment with grantmaking and community capacity building.


    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Adult Education, or related field of knowledge preferred.
    • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience required; experience in the nonprofit sector strongly preferred.
    • Proven experience as an Learning & Development Manager, Training Manager, or a similar role.
    • Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods, including needs assessment and evaluation.
    • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices.
    • Experience with project management, including change management.
    • Experience with budgeting.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
    • Sharp business acumen, including negotiation skills.
    • Ability to build rapport and collaboration with stakeholders, colleagues, board members, and vendors.
    • Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
